Lake Mburo
Lake Mburo National Park is a gem located in the southwestern part of Uganda. It is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks but is rich in biodiversity. The park is famous for its picturesque landscapes that include rolling hills, open and wooded savannah, acacia woodland, and lakes. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including zebras, impalas, buffaloes, and various bird species. It is the only park in Uganda that has impalas and is the best place to see the acacia-associated bird species.
The park also features the eponymous Lake Mburo, which, along with 13 other lakes in the area, forms part of a 50 km-long wetland system linked by a swamp. Lake Mburo is renowned for its boat cruises, which provide a great opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds, including the African fish eagle. The park also offers a range of activities, such as game drives, guided nature walks, bird watching, horseback safaris, and mountain biking.
